Erling Haaland has heaped big praise on young Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko.
Still only 15, highly rated striker Youssoufa Moukoko is training with the Borussia Dortmund first team squad. The youngster has already made quite an impression on his Dortmund teammates, with Erling Haaland the latest to praise him. The Norwegian international has called Moukoko the most talented 15 year old he has ever seen.
"Haaland said, “He’s much better than I was when I was 15. He’s already training with Dortmund at this age – I was still in my hometown Bryne when I was 15. I don’t want to put too much pressure on him, but I have never seen a 15-year-old as good as him in my life.”"
Moukoko will be eligible to make his Bundesliga debut when he turns 16 on November 20, and Haaland believes that the young striker has a bright future ahead of him.
Moukoko played for the Borussia Dortmund U-19s last season, scoring 38 goals in 28 appearances in all competitions. He is now training with the first-team, but will continue to play for the U-19s at least until he is eligible to play for the senior team.
Haaland also spoke about Jadon Sancho, after it was confirmed that the Englishman will be staying with the Black and Yellows for at least another year. The striker is now looking forward to teaming up with Sancho once again next season.
"“Jadon is a fantastic player, so I am very happy that he is staying. I am sure he will give me some goals – but I will give him some as well,” Haaland said."
Teammates Axel Witsel and Emre Can are also very happy that Sancho will be playing for Borussia Dortmund next season.
"Axel Witsel: “We only found out on Monday. Only when Michael Zorc announced it did we know. Of course we are all happy. A player like Jadon, who is so talented – we can only be happy that he stays, because he is one of our most important players in attack.Emre Can: “Personally, I am very happy that Jadon is staying. For me he is already a world class player. He is very, very important for the team. I hope he will continue to score many goals and help us as a team to win as many games as possible.”"
Haaland, who joined Borussia Dortmund in January, also has his sights set on winning titles, and believes that Der BVB have a good chance of lifting silverware. “As a player, I want to win things,” Haaland said. “We have a good chance of holding something in our hands (at the end of the season).”
Haaland and Borussia Dortmund are currently in Switzerland, preparing for the start of the new season. They will be in action against Austrian side SCR Altach on Wednesday in the first of their pre-season friendlies.
