Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of signing highly rated Real Madrid attacking midfielder Reinier Jesus on loan, reports say.

Goal Brazil’s Bruno Andrade reported earlier today that Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of signing Reinier Jesus from Real Madrid on a season long loan deal. Andrade went so far as to claim that the 18 year old has already signed a contract.

Ruhr Nachrichten have now confirmed Borussia Dortmund’s interest in signing the highly rated attacking midfielder. However they add that, no contract has been signed yet. Meanwhile, BILD claim that the deal is almost perfect and could be made official this weekend. The Black and Yellows will sign him on a season long loan, with the option to extend the deal for another year.

Reinier joined Real Madrid from Brazilian side Flamengo in the January transfer window for a fee in the region of 30 million euros. He has yet to make his debut for the first team, but is rated very highly by the club. Still only 18, Reinier has earned comparisons with Kaka for his impressive performances during his fledgling career.

Reinier is said to operate best in the number ten role behind the striker, but he is also capable of playing down the wing. Borussia Dortmund were also interested in signing Reinier in 2019.

If Borussia Dortmund do sign Reinier, he could replace Mario Götze in the squad, and also act as the back-up to Marco Reus, who is struggling with an adductor injury at the moment, and hasn’t played since February.
