Sancho and Haaland re-state their importance

Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland wasted no time reminding Dortmund fans of their importance to the team with the first two pre-season games. Haaland’s physicality has increased since last season and he looks ready to bully opposing defenders. Sancho has been equally impressive and looks completely unfazed by the earlier transfer rumors. His skill was on full display against Austria Wien, with the highlight being him absolutely sitting down the opposing left back before helping build up the Marius Wolf goal. He also scored one and set up three goals in the 11-2 win.

Depth is going to be Key

Although Dortmund’s squad is quite large Lucien Favre has stressed the need for depth this season. With significantly more English weeks this season due to the compressed schedule Favre said ideally he would have two full squads of players to choose from. However, outside of the rumoured arrival of Reinier on loan from Madrid, it’s more likely we see a few departures than arrivals.

However, BILD claim that Nico Schulz, Marius Wolf and Mahmoud Dahoud are free to leave, so it will be interesting to see if their potential departures mean new signings.
