Borussia Dortmund thrashed Austria Wien 11-2 on Saturday and Lucien Favre spoke about the win and the upcoming season is his post game interview.

Lucien Favre spoke in depth about Borussia Dortmund’s preparation for the season as they wrapped up their training camp in Switzerland. Dortmund will be heading back to Germany shortly with their next set of friendly games scheduled for August 22nd as they have a split squad double header against Duisburg and Feyenoord.

Although Favre was just coming off of a massive win, he had quite a bit to say to the media. One of the main topics was Favre stressing the need for more depth this season. With the amount of English weeks Dortmund have because of the shortened schedule, Favre will need more players at disposal than usual. That comes with a bit of confusion as Watzke and Zorc have confirmed there aren’t any plans to bring anyone one else in on a permanent deal.

"“From the end of September there will only be English weeks,” Favre said. “We need two teams, two real teams, and we don’t have that yet! You saw it at the end of last season, there were four or five sitting on the bench, you didn’t know them. It’s gonna be hard for everybody.”"

One of the players who looks like he could be important for Dortmund’s depth this season is Youssoufa Moukoko, who unfortunately can’t take part in any games until he turns 16. Lucien Favre had the following to say.

"“I really like him, he has great potential. You don’t know which foot he’ll finish with. He is also very young, but he is very efficient. It’s nice to see, and he’s fun to work with.” – Lucien Favre"

Although only 16, Moukoko is spoken of very highly by Dortmund executives, teammates and now the manager. Along with praising Moukoko, Favre expressed his pleasure that Dortmund star Jadon Sancho would be staying with the club for the upcoming season.

"“That he stays is important for the team – of course! He’s very good, but still has a lot to learn. Sometimes he has to control the ball better, he has to play with his head, and above all he must not stop playing for ten minutes. That goes for all of us, otherwise we have a problem.” – Lucien Favre"

Finally, Favre spoke on his newest young English prodigy, Jude Bellingham, who has been very impressive over his first two appearances in Black and Yellow. Although only 17 years old, Bellingham does seem to have a shot for challenging other regulars for playing time this season.

"“He is very versatile, which is the case with many young players. He played at Birmingham on the six and eight. I have been able to watch him for ten days now. He is good, but don’t forget that he is only 17. You can’t expect too much.”"
