Former Borussia Dortmund player Kevin Großkreutz sues KFC Uerdingen
Former Borussia Dortmund player, Kevin Großkreutz, is now suing his current employer KFC Uerdingen over salary payments.
Kevin Großkreutz hasn’t had the smoothest of years after leaving Borussia Dortmund in 2015 he has bounced around quite a bit. KFC Uerdingen is the fourth team Großkreutz has played on in the last five years. Things are currently very tense between the two parties as they are set to head to Kreferd Labour Court on September 17th. The case is being brought to court because Großkreutz reportedly hasn’t received his salary in over three months.
It’s getting ugly on both sides as KFC Uerdingen’s most recent official statement was pretty ruthless in speaking about Großkreutz, portraying him in a very greedy light.
"“As a player in the KFC Uerdingen team, Kevin Großkreutz was not prepared to support and relieve the club in the course of the great challenges posed by the corona pandemic. Despite months of discussions with the player and his agent, it was not possible to reach an agreement.” KFC Uerdingen’s official statement"
Although Großkreutz’s contract still runs until 2021 he doesn’t have much of a sporting role with the club anymore. He mainly features in training, only playing in 12 games in the league last season. The former World Champion’s career has taken a steep down turn, although he was never a superstar with Dortmund he was still a regular in the first team. He was more than capable of regularly featuring for a strong Dortmund side. Because of that it was very surprising to see him drop off the face of the earth after a season away from the club. Once he starting slipping he never really was able to pull himself back up to his previous level.
