Marco Reus is set to be included in the Borussia Dortmund squad for their DFB Pokal first round tie against MSV Duisburg.

After spending six months on the sidelines, Reus finally made his return to training earlier this month. The Borussia Dortmund captain has been out of action since suffering an adductor injury in the third round of the DFB Pokal in February. And now he could be set to make his return in the same competition when the Black and Yellows face MSV Duisburg next month.

According to BILD, Reus is set to make his long awaited return to the Borussia Dortmund squad for their short trip to Duisburg in the first round of the DFB Pokal on September 14.

Having Reus back for the first game of the season would undoubtedly be a massive boost for Borussia Dortmund. He was the team’s third highest goalscorer last season with 12 goals to his name, despite missing the majority of the second half of the campaign. Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc is quoted by BILD saying, “On Saturday morning I watched Marco train very closely. He looked really robust. Marco radiates a very positive charisma.”

The tabloid adds that the 31 year old is finally free of any pain. It will be interesting to see how Lucien Favre manages Reus’ time on the pitch in the coming weeks and months.
