How Borussia Dortmund could line up this season with Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho leading the line

Centre Back: Mats Hummels
Twelve months on from his controversial return to Borussia Dortmund, Mats Hummels is one of the team’s most important players, and is set to be given the vice-captaincy following Lukasz Piszczek’s decision to step down. Hummels was excellent in his first season back, holding the Dortmund defence together on his own at times.
There is no way Borussia Dortmund would have finished in the top four without him in the team last season.
The 31 year old is set to be one of the first names on the team-sheet once again this season. He is one of the many Dortmund players who looked much more at home following the switch to the back three. The formation allowed him to build play out from the back more freely. And he was able to play the quarter-back role to great success, pinging long balls to the forwards in dangerous areas.
Having him in the middle of a back three just helps gets the best out of him, and ensures that his lack of pace isn’t a problem.
