Team News

Borussia Dortmund will be without long term absentees Dan Axel Zagadou, Marcel Schmelzer and Mateu Morey, while Nico Schulz is a doubt having suffered an injury in the pre-season game against Paderborn last month. Marco Reus is set to feature though, after more than seven months out with an adductor injury. The Borussia Dortmund captain will likely come on from the bench in the second half. Thomas Meunier played 90 minutes for Belgium earlier this week, and should be ready to start for Borussia Dortmund despite his recent injury troubles.

Duisburg have a number of injuries to deal with as well, with Maximilian Jansen, Joshua Bitter and Cem Sabancı all ruled out. Club captain and key player Moritz Stoppelkamp is also a doubt with a virus infection, although his COVID-19 test came back negative.

Expected Line-Ups

MSV Duisburg: Weinkauf – Sauer, Gembalies, Volkmer, Bretschneider – Kamavuaka, Scepanik – Mickels, Karweina, Engin – Vermeij

Borussia Dortmund: Bürki – Meunier, Hummels, Akanji, Guerreiro – Witsel, Brandt, Bellingham – Sancho, Reyna – Haaland
