Borussia Dortmund will travel to Duisburg on Monday to take on the third division side in the first round of the DFB Pokal, their first competitive fixture of the new season.

Borussia Dortmund kick off their campaign on Monday with a tough DFB Pokal tie against MSV Duisburg. Although these two teams met in a pre-season friendly last month, this tie likely won’t be anything like Dortmund’s 5-1 win. Duisburg will be much more motivated and tougher defensively to break down.

On Dortmund’s side they still have a few injuries lingering, all in their defence. They will be without Dan-Axel Zagadou, Marcel Schmelzer, Nico Schulz and Mateu Morey in this one as they all are still recovering from their respective injuries. Roman Bürki and Raphael Guerreiro also miss the game with injuries, The good news will be that Marco Reus passed his test game against Sparta Rotterdam and is on the bench.

The big question ahead of the game was the formation Lucien Favre would choose, and it looks like he’s gone with a 3-4-2-1 formation.

Goalkeeper: Marwin Hitz

With Bürki out injured, Marwin Hitz takes his place in goal. The Swiss goalkeeper has largely been a solid presence in goal for the Black and Yellows, and will be aiming to keep a clean sheet.
