Wings Backs and Midfielders: Thomas Meunier, Axel Witsel, Jude Bellingham, Thorgan Hazard

After a poor pre-season, Julian Brandt has been left on the bench for the opener, with Axel Witsel and Jude Bellingham forming the midfield pivot. Bellingham may only be 17, but he has already made a good impression on Lucien Favre. And the Duisburg game will present the perfect opportunity for him to show that he can play a key role for the senior team this season.

With Mateu Morey currently out with injury, we will see Thomas Meunier make his competitive debut for Borussia Dortmund debut at right back. He doesn’t boast quite the attacking flair Hakimi brought to the role last season, but he will hopefully bring more defensive stability.

Raphael Guerreiro is injured, so Thorgan Hazard comes into the team as the left wing-back. He has played this role for Belgium quite often, and it will be interesting to see how he fares.
