EA Sports released their FIFA 21 player ratings in the lead up to the launch of the game and some of Borussia Dortmund’s players got the short end of the stick.

The FIFA 21 player ratings were released this week and there were certainly a few surprises. Borussia Dortmund players have historically never really gotten the credit they probably fully deserve in the FIFA games and this year wasn’t very different. Unsurprisingly, Jadon Sancho led the Dortmund squad with an 87 rating after his massive season and from there it dropped off rather quickly. A number of players were rated far too low, making it clear that those in charge at EA don’t watch Borussia Dortmund games.

Here we will take a look at some of player ratings on the Dortmund team that could have been higher considering some of the other player ratings and ratings from previous years. These are not the only players who we think deserve a rating increase, but just the ones who have been rated shockingly low.

Dan-Axel Zagadou – 79 Overall

This is probably the biggest disappointment of them all considering the progress Zagadou made over the last 18 months. Zagadou cemented himself as a clear cut starter over the past few months for Borussia Dortmund and has completely surpassed Akanji in the depth chart, becoming one of Europe’s most highly rated defenders. The only reason Zagadou hasn’t taken an even bigger step forward is his history with injuries.

Regardless, to not give him any sort of an update from FIFA 20 to FIFA 21 is pretty absurd considering how much he has improved over the last season. Zagadou is miles ahead of a 79 overall and I can only imagine will be rated a lot lower than several players well beneath his ability.
