Wing-Backs and Midfielders: Thomas Meunier, Axel Witsel, Jude Bellingham, Thorgan Hazard

Thomas Meunier put in a solid performance against Duisburg and will retain his spot on the right wing. Against a team like Gladbach, Meunier’s defensive stability will be important in snuffing out counter attacks. He got a lot of space down the right wing on Monday, and will be looking to cause Gladbach problems going forward as well.

Raphael Guerreiro is an injury doubt after missing the Duisburg game with a muscle injury. If he’s not fit in time, we will likely see Thorgan Hazard again on the left side for Dortmund in his new wing-back role. The Belgian international will have to be at his best defensively with Gladbach a dangerous attacking force.

With how well Jude Bellingham played against Duisburg, he certainly has earned a second start. Although Favre might view it as risky to start the 17 year old against Gladbach, he has more than proven he is capable of playing at that level. Axel Witsel had a much better game against Duisburg than he had shown in the pre-season and should be in line for another start as well.
