Players To Watch

After a dominant display over Duisburg, there are a few players who will be looking to impress going into this game against Gladbach. The first player that comes to mind will be Jadon Sancho. The Englishman has been at the forefront of a transfer saga involving Manchester United after hitting 17 goals and racking up 16 assists last season. Most things the Black and Yellow did well last season came through Sancho and with him staying around for another season, he could be the difference maker for them.

Another player who stands out will be Thorgan Hazard, the midfielder will be coming up against his former employers and will be aiming for a repeat of his performance in the last game between the two sides. The talented midfielder got himself on the scoresheet in the DFB-Pokal and Dortmund will be hoping he can push on and carry on this form. If Raphael Guerreiro misses the game, he will play at left wing-back, and his performance will be crucial to Dortmund’s chances.

For Gladbach, the main threat will no doubt come through Marcus Thuram. The explosive forward got himself ten goals for the Foals last season and was a constant nuisance for opposing teams, along with his strike partner, Alassane Plea, who is also a threat after grabbing ten goals last season.

Gladbach play with a dynamic system, with Thuram and Plea constantly swapping positions, making them both very difficult players to mark and keep track of. If Dortmund can keep these two quiet, they may well win the game comfortably.
