Raphael Guerreiro is back in team training to bolster Borussia Dortmund’s options at left wing back ahead of this weekend’s game against Augsburg.

Guerreiro missed Borussia Dortmund’s opening two games of the season with a muscle injury. Thorgan Hazard deputised at left wing back in his absence, but he too suffered an injury in the Bundesliga clash against Borussia Mönchengladbach last weekend. With Hazard ruled out for several weeks with a muscle fibre tear, Guerreiro’s return comes at the perfect time for the Black and Yellows.

With three games coming up in just eight days for Borussia Dortmund, having Guerreiro back in team training gives Lucien Favre’s side a big boost.

Even if he isn’t 100% fit in time for the game against Augsburg, having him in the team for the DFL Supercup against Bayern Munich next week will certainly improve Borussia Dortmund’s chances of victory against the Bavarians.

Guerreiro made a total of 38 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring eight goals and providing five assists. He established himself as one of the team’s most important players, especially after the switch to the three chain system.

Lucien Favre can also call upon Felix Passlack at left wing back, after the 22 year old came off the bench and impressed against Gladbach last weekend. While Nico Schulz should not be too far behind either, having returned to individual training last week.
