Thomas Meunier (4/10)

Thomas Meunier had a day to forget. The man brought in to replace the outgoing Hakimi showed all of his flaws at once in this one. Dortmund consistently were trying to build up through the right side.

And cross after cross and turnover after turnover, Meunier gave the ball away killing any potential momentum. Meunier almost gifted Augsburg a goal in the first half as well, playing a horrible back pass to Burki that he had no chance to control.

Finally, Meunier was caught out in the second Augsburg goal. Failing to mark and keep pace with 32 year old Daniel Caligiuri, he fended off Meunier with seeming ease while also taking down and dribbling the ball before finding the back of the net. Meunier’s supposed defensive stability was nowhere to be found today.

Axel Witsel (6/10)

Axel Witsel was not the problem today, he delivered his usual performance. Kept the ball moving for Dortmund and jumped in defensively when needed, Dortmund just weren’t able to do anything with the ball when they got it in the final third.

Jude Bellingham (6.5/10)

Jude Bellingham being substituted in the 60th minute was one of Favre’s many errors today. Bellingham was probably Dortmund’s best player in his time on the pitch. He’s an exceptionally talented 17 year old that quite frankly has earned his spot in the starting XI and that should not change heading into next weekend’s game.

Bellingham’s temperament when under pressure was on full display in this one, twisting and turning out of pressure time after time.

Raphael Guerreiro (6/10)

Raphael Guerreiro’s return to the Dortmund starting XI was great to see as he is such an important member of this squad. Guerreiro was a part of almost every nice build up Dortmund had in the first half, combining in tight spaces with Sancho and Haaland.

Guerreiro did have a back heel or two that ended up as turnovers, but outside of that it was a relatively positive return from injury from him.
