Borussia Dortmund take on FC Augsburg on match day two after dismantling Borussia Mönchengladbach in the season opener, looking to build on their momentum.

Borussia Dortmund kicked off their season with an impressive 3-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the season opener. A Gio Reyna goal and an Erling Haaland brace were the difference in the game with both youngsters getting their seasons off to a great start. Having put the first tough test of the season behind them, Dortmund will need to keep their performance levels high as they travel to Augsburg in a tough away match.

FC Augsburg have had a great start to the season, grabbing two wins in their first two competitive games in the DFB Pokal and Bundesliga. Augsburg’s defensive record is as impressive as their attacking record in those games, scoring 10 while only conceding 1. While they have been very solid defensively thus far it will be interesting to see how their back line holds up against the potent Dortmund attack.

Borussia Dortmund look set to receive some important reinforcements in this game with Raphael Guerreiro making his return to team training and travelling to Augsburg with the squad. With Thorgan Hazard ruled out due to injury it’s a massive boost for Borussia Dortmund to get their first choice wing-back back with the squad.

After their exceptional first game, Lucien Favre and the Dortmund fans will have high expectations for both Gio Reyna and Jude Bellingham going into this one. Although they are both very young at 17 years old, their performances have set an incredibly high bar as they move forward in the season. Both players are set to feature in key roles for the Dortmund starting XI this weekend.
