Borussia Dortmund were handed a stark reality check on Saturday as they were beaten 2-0 by FC Augsburg.

Going into the game on the back of two impressive wins, Borussia Dortmund were embarrassed by Augsburg as they suffered their first defeat of the new season. Despite enjoying more than 70% of possession, the Black and Yellows were quite simply outfought and outthought by a physical and resilient Augsburg side.

Goals from Felix Uduokhai and Daniel Caligiuri gave Augsburg a shock win, as Borussia Dortmund endured a frustrating afternoon with their star attacking players failing to get going. Questionable decision making and lacklustre defending did not help their cause, as Lucien Favre’s side were humbled by a team they should have easily beaten.
