Lukasz Piszczek is back in training and is available for selection ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s trip to Bayern Munich in the DFL Supercup.

Piszczek has missed the last two games as a result of back problems, but made his return to training on Sunday. His return comes just in time for the DFL Supercup, with Borussia Dortmund’s defence desperately needing the reliability and composure that the 35 year old offers.

Kicker report that Piszczek could make his return to the starting XI for Wednesday’s crunch game against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. He could replace one of Thomas Meunier and Emre Can in the starting line-up, after the duo struggled in the Black and Yellows’ 2-0 defeat to FC Augsburg on Saturday.

In addition to Piszczek, left back Nico Schulz is also back in team training and could be on the bench against Bayern. Thorgan Hazard, Dan Axel Zagadou, Mateu Morey and Marcel Schmelzer remain out for the time being.

There could be further changes in the starting line-up, as Lucien Favre looks to manage his squad’s workload. Kicker speculate that youngsters Gio Reyna and Jude Bellingham could be given a break, with the more experienced Julian Brandt and Marco Reus available as replacements. Axel Witsel could also be rested, with Thomas Delaney a potential candidate to replace him in the starting XI.
