Borussia Dortmund face their first test against Bayern Munich this season on Wednesday in the DFL Supercup.

Borussia Dortmund take on 2019/20 Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich on Wednesday in their first meeting of the season. Although it is only the DFL Supercup, which is usually somewhat of a pre-season game, it is still a chance for Dortmund to grab a trophy this season. Both teams are coming off disappointing losses in the Bundesliga last weekend and will be looking to bounce back against fellow title challengers.

Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich were held to a combined one goal last weekend while conceding six, something that doesn’t happen very often. It’s hard to imagine both teams struggling to score in this one, a fixture that usually features goals especially with the firepower both teams have in attack. Dortmund haven’t fared particularly well at the Allianz Arena in recent seasons but this game will be played in front of empty stands, which could ease the pressure a bit.

Dortmund will be without several key players in this one, on top of the injuries from the weekend both Jadon Sancho and Roman Burki didn’t travel with the team due to respiratory issues. Both players have tested negative for COVID-19 but are being rested as a precaution before the weekend. Bayern will also have some key players out with injury on Wednesday, with Leroy Sane already ruled out. David Alaba also faces a race against the clock dealing with muscular issues.
