Borussia Dortmund player ratings: Haaland and Reyna star in 4-0 win over Freiburg
By Tushar Bahl
Emre Can (8/10)
Flawless at the back, and dangerous going forward, Emre Can had a really good game for Borussia Dortmund. He made seven clearances and three interceptions, and was always looking to make forward runs to supplement the attack. His goal in the second half came at the perfect time for the hosts, and it was a really well taken header.
Mats Hummels (7/10)
Hummels commanded the back-line really well, ensuring that Freiburg did not even get an inch of space near the Dortmund box. He had an excellent chance to double his side’s lead in the first half, but could not beat Müller from close range. He had more touches of the ball than any other player on the pitch (121), and also played some really good long range passes.
Manuel Akanji (5.5/10)
Akanji had a number of nervy moments in the first half where he switched off and made avoidable errors. But luckily none of them ended up costing his side. He improved as the game went on, and positioned himself much better after the break. Like Hummels, Akanji too played more than 100 passes.
