Germany’s poor form in the UEFA Nations League continued on Tuesday, while Jude Bellingham helped England U-21s qualify for the Euros.

Matchday 04 of the UEFA Nations League group stage saw Germany go up against Switzerland for the second time in two months. The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in September, and things did not get any better for the 2014 World Cup winners on Tuesday, as they had to come from behind to manage a 3-3 draw.

Joachim Löw made three changes to the side that earned a narrow 2-1 win over Ukraine on Saturday, but Borussia Dortmund players Emre Can and Julian Brandt were both left out of the starting line-up. Former Schalke striker Mario Gavranovic gave Switzerland an early lead, before Atalanta’s Remo Freuler made it 2-0 just before the half hour mark.

Timo Werner pulled a goal back soon after, and Kai Havertz then got Germany level in the 55th minute. But their joy was short lived as Gavranovic struck again just a minute later to restore Switzerland’s advantage. Serge Gnabry then equalised for Germany, and neither side was able to find a winner.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Emre Can did come on in the 77th minute, replacing Matthias Ginter.

Elsewhere, Jude Bellingham played 90 minutes and helped England U-21s beat Turkey 2-1. The win helped England book their spot for next summer’s European U-21 Championships. Bellingham impressed in midfield, playing in the advanced number eight role.
