Borussia Dortmund player ratings: Super sub Marco Reus seals win over Hoffenheim
By Tushar Bahl
Thomas Delaney (7.5/10)
Delaney came on to replace Piszczek in the back three, and put on an excellent shift for his side. The Dane hardly put a foot wrong, and was never afraid to get stuck in defensively. He led his side with six tackles, three clearances, and won almost 80% of his duels.
Overall, a very impressive performance by Delaney, who showed great calm and composure. He may be needed to fill in at centre-back again in the near future, and this display will certainly encourage Lucien Favre.
Erling Haaland (7/10)
Haaland wasn’t included in the starting line up following his excursions with Norway over the last two weeks. But he came on and showed his commitment to the cause, by putting his body on the line to get an assist for Reus’ winner. He had two chances to add to his goal tally, but he fired wide and then hit the woodwork.
Marco Reus (8/10)
Reus came off the bench and made the desired impact. Not only did he score the winning goal, but he looked dangerous almost every time he touched the ball in the Hoffenheim third. The Borussia Dortmund captain nearly scored a second late on with an excellent curling effort.
Raphael Guerreiro (7/10)
Guerreiro came on with 15 minutes to go to replace Thomas Meunier. And he was really unlucky not to get a goal or an assist during what was a really impressive cameo. He had more key passes than any other Dortmund player (3), and created two brilliant chances for Erling Haaland and Gio Reyna.
Jude Bellingham (6/10)
Bellingham came on to replace Mahmoud Dahoud in the 75th minute. He was solid in his duels, and did his job well.
