Missed Chances comeback to hurt Dortmund

Lazio’s chances may have been more clear-cut, but Lucian Favre’s side had their own opportunities to get into the game. Down 1-0, a clever flick from Haaland gave Raphael Guerreiro a chance to run into the box, but his effort was saved as he failed to connect with the shot as well as he would have liked.

After the side fell down 2-0, the previously mentioned Meunier miss happened. Towards the end of the first half, a Guerreiro cutback gave Haaland a slight chance, Lazio had plenty of numbers back to block the goal-bound shot.

Borussia Dortmund continued to get chances in the second half. Early on Haaland had a much better chance than the one in the first 45, but his shot was far too central and was well saved. Good link up between Jadon Sancho, Gio Reyna and Marco Reus saw the captain lay it off for Guerreiro, but with the defense closing in his first time effort went over the bar.

They finally found the net off of a great Haaland finish on a Reyna pass across the box. As mentioned earlier though, Lazio’s quick response killed Dortmund’s chance to build momentum off the goal, and Haaland’s header off of Meunier’s cross would be the only big chance after.
