Borussia Dortmund will look to rebound after their disappointing Champions League loss in the first Revierderby of the season against Schalke on Saturday.

Borussia Dortmund are fresh off a disappointing 3-1 loss in the Champions League to Lazio, but will have a shot at getting back to winning ways this weekend with a derby against Schalke. Dortmund were far from their best against Lazio and with some reinforcements coming back, Lucien Favre will need to right the ship ahead of this weekend’s game.

Aside from their disastrous outing against Lazio, Borussia Dortmund have been pretty strong thus far in the Bundesliga with their only blip coming in their 2-0 loss to Augsburg. Through four games Dortmund have scored 8 and conceded 2 and both goals conceded came in the loss to Augsburg. Outside of that, Dortmund have kept clean sheets in three of their four Bundesliga outings. The Black and Yellows will look to continue that trend against winless Schalke.

Schalke have taken an absolute nose dive over the past 10 months, and their fortunes have hardly changed since the arrival of Manuel Baum. Since the new year, Schalke have won once in the Bundesliga, lost 13 times and drawn seven more. That is a near impossible feat, especially for a team that was playing Champions League football just two years ago. Currently sitting in 17th place with one point through four games, Schalke need a win more than any other team in the Bundesliga, although beating Borussia Dortmund will certainly not be easy.
