Borussia Dortmund cruised to a 3-0 win over local rivals Schalke 04 thanks to goals from Manuel Akanji, Erling Haaland and Mats Hummels.

Lucien Favre made the switch to a back four, and it certainly paid off as Borussia Dortmund dominated the game right from the first whistle to the last. They had to wait until the 55th minute to get their opening goal, but their patience was finally rewarded when Manuel Akanji turned the ball into the net after Raphael Guerreiro’s effort was well saved by Schalke keeper Frederik Rønnow.

The goal was just the boost Borussia Dortmund needed, and Erling Haaland doubled their advantage just six minutes later after some great interplay with Jadon Sancho. Mats Hummels then headed home the third to secure another impressive derby win for the Black and Yellows.

Here are our player ratings from Borussia Dortmund’s 3-0 win over Schalke.

Roman Bürki (6/10)

Bürki could have taken a nap during the game and it would have been fine. The 29 year old did not have a single save to make on his return to the starting XI, as Borussia Dortmund made it four clean sheets out of five in the Bundesliga.
