Predicted Borussia Dortmund XI vs Zenit: Lucien Favre to stick with back four?

Attack: Julian Brandt, Marco Reus, Thorgan Hazard, Erling Haaland

Borussia Dortmund have gotten some attacking reinforcements back and will likely look to rotate to keep everyone fresh. Reyna and Sancho have played a lot in recent weeks and will likely be rested in this one. Marco Reus should slot back in to the starting XI. He hasn’t gotten off to a blistering start but now that he is comfortably back to full fitness we should start seeing more of the Reus we know.

Thorgan Hazard could also return to the starting XI after coming off the bench against Schalke. He has been out since the first game of the season and getting the Belgian back is a massive boost for this Dortmund squad. He offers a more direct option than most of the other Dortmund attackers and brings something different to the team. Julian Brandt will likely round out the three attacking midfielders after his strong performance against Schalke. He hasn’t been given a ton of opportunity this season so hopefully he is rewarded for his strong play.

Erling Haaland will be up top yet again for Dortmund and looking to keep up his unbelievable scoring pace in the Champions League. Dortmund simply don’t have another real option up front so Haaland will be asked to do a lot this season, although he seems completely up for the task.
