Thomas Meunier (6/10)

Meunier wasn’t really tested defensively, and it was more of the same going forward from him. The majority of his crosses failed to find a Black and Yellow shirt, but his cross did lead to the foul on Thorgan Hazard which led to the Borussia Dortmund penalty.

Manuel Akanji (7/10)

Fresh off his derby goal, Akanji put in another solid shift tonight. The Swiss centre-back kept Artem Dzyuba quiet for the most part and won the majority of his duels against the Zenit target man. Akanji also led the way in tackles (4) and interceptions (2), showing great anticipation and awareness at all times.

Mats Hummels (6/10)

Zenit’s defensive tactics meant that Hummels wasn’t able to play his trademark long balls in behind the defence. His passing wasn’t as accurate as it usually is, but he did his job defensively and ensured that Roman Bürki’s goal wasn’t troubled.

Raphael Guerreiro (5.5/10)

After his world-class performance against Schalke, Guerreiro wasn’t at his best tonight. The Portuguese international spent the majority of the game in the Zenit half, but lacked precision and wasn’t able to cause too many problems to their defence. His second half back-pass to Roman Bürki was very risky, and could have easily resulted in a Zenit goal.
