Borussia Dortmund came away 2-0 winners in a hard fought away game to Arminia Bielefeld, going level on points with Bayern Munich atop the Bundesliga.

Throughout the course of what has been a condensed season, Borussia Dortmund have had a slew of tough opponents so far. In most cases, a trip to face Arminia Bielefeld would not be considered one of those tougher games, but the fellow Westphalian club proved a hard nut to crack for Die Schwarzgelben on Saturday.

While Lucien Favre’s side maintained most of the possession and produced most of the dangerous chances, the Bundesliga newcomers defended resolutely, not giving up the lead easily.

With Dortmund’s goal machine Erling Haaland sidelined for the game, the impetus fell on one Mats Hummels to play the role of stalwart defender and clutch goalscorer to seal all 3 points in the second half. Let us take a closer look at some of the key talking points from the match.
