Borussia Dortmund make the trip to Belgium to take on Club Brugge on Wednesday in the Champions League, with Group F finely poised.

Going into matchday three of the UEFA Champions League group stage, Lazio lead Group F on goal difference ahead of Club Brugge. Both teams have four points, and Borussia Dortmund are a point behind with three. While Zenit St. Petersburg have yet to open their account.

While they have made a strong impression in the Champions League, Club Brugge’s start to the Belgian Pro League has not been the best. The 16-time Belgian champions currently lie in fourth place with six wins and three losses after 11 games. They let a two goal lead slip against KV Mechelen at the weekend, and head coach Philippe Clement will be hoping to see a much better performance from his side on Wednesday.

According to journalist Claudio Reulens from VoetbalNieuws, Bruges have made a very strong start in the Champions League. “For the moment they are the strongest team in Belgium, but in the league they are not performing well,” he adds. “Last weekend the coach was very angry after the 2-2 draw against Mechelen. The main problem in Belgium is the mentality from some players, but in the Champions League, they are very focused.”

Borussia Dortmund have found a bit of form in recent games, and despite their defeat to Lazio on the opening matchday, they go into the game full of confidence. The Black and Yellows seem to have finally found their defensive resolve this season. And that, combined with their potent strike force, makes them a very dangerous team.

Dortmund enjoyed a 2-0 win over newly-promoted Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday, and will be aiming for a routine win against Club Brugge ahead of this weekend’s Der Klassiker.
