Previous Meeting: Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Club Brugge

Borussia Dortmund and Club Brugge last met in the Champions League group stage in November 2018, playing out a goalless draw at the Signal Iduna Park. The Black and Yellows dominated the game, but were unable to breach the Belgian side’s defence.

Dortmund had a couple of good chances to get the winner, but misses from Christian Pulisic and Marco Reus prevented them from getting the three points. The draw was enough for Lucien Favre’s side to secure their qualification to the round of 16, where they were eliminated by Tottenham Hotspur. Club Brugge finished third in the group.

The two sides also faced off in Belgium two months earlier, and Christian Pulisic did score the winner on that night. Although it was a winner that he knew very little about, as a clearance deflected off him and found the back of the net to give Borussia Dortmund a 1-0 win.

Reulens believes that Club Brugge have grown a lot since their previous meeting against Borussia Dortmund. “From that team in Bruges, there are only 3 players left in the starting eleven: Rits, Vanaken and Vormer. They are still very important and Vanaken is the best player of the team.”
