Borussia Dortmund head to Belgium for their third Champions League group stage game against Club Brugge on Wednesday.

Borussia Dortmund return to Champions League action in a midweek fixture against Club Brugge on Wednesday. Although Dortmund have only played two games, it is a bit of a must win game in a sense. This is a very beatable opponent that Dortmund will feel they can collect six points from over the next two matchdays.

But Borussia Dortmund will know well enough that Brugge will be hard to beat from their games against them in 2018. The two sides played out a goalless draw at the Signal Iduna Park, and the Black and Yellows won 1-0 in Brugge.

Borussia Dortmund will be missing several key players, especially in defence. Mats Hummels, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Emre Can have all been ruled out, putting Favre in a very tough spot from a lineup standpoint. Whether he goes with a back four or back three, either way Favre is short on natural centre-backs, with only Akanji currently fit.

Erling Haaland also just returned to training on Tuesday after picking up a minor injury that kept him out at the weekend. With Bayern coming up on Saturday it remains to be seen if Favre will risk his star forward from the start. Brugge have started well in the Champions league, picking up a win against Zenit and a draw against Lazio. A draw or win against Dortmund would keep Lazio ahead of them in the group standings.
