Previous Meeting: Bayern Munich 3-2 Borussia Dortmund

The two teams last met in September as they battled it out for the DFL Supercup at the Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich made a fast start and took a two goal lead in the opening half hour, courtesy of goals from Corentin Tolisso and Thomas Müller.

Borussia Dortmund stormed their way back into the game, with Julian Brandt and Erling Haaland firing them back level. But the Black and Yellows lost all momentum after Lucien Favre decided to sub his key players off in order to rest them for the next game. And Joshua Kimmich then got lucky as his rebounded effort deflected into the back of the net, giving Bayern the 3-2 lead in the 82nd minute.

Bayern held on for the win and claimed the first piece of silverware on offer this season in German football. Borussia Dortmund will be hoping for a repeat of the second half performance we saw from them in the Supercup.
