Jadon Sancho (4/10)

The game passed Sancho by, and he wasn’t able to make the impact Lucien Favre desired from him. He lost the ball way too easily on numerous occasions, and often looked sluggish in possession. We did see sparks of the Sancho we know, as he set up a great chance for Axel Witsel just before Reus’ opener. But overall it was another disappointing performance from the 20 year old. He made way for Thorgan Hazard in the 69th minute with his side desperately needing a goal.

Marco Reus (6/10)

It was a pretty quiet first half from the Borussia Dortmund captain. He tried to get involved in the game, especially on the counter-attack but it wasn’t exactly happening for him early on. But he did make his chance count in the 44th minute by scoring Dortmund’s opener, an excellent finish following Raphael Guerreiro’s cut-back. He had another chance late on, which he rushed with a volley on his weaker foot. Looking back, he will feel like he could have taken another touch.

Gio Reyna (5/10)

The 17 year old often found himself in excellent positions, but made a lot of bad decisions in the final third. He worked hard and helped out defensively, but lacked the spark to change the game despite his good movement and runs. A game of this magnitude probably came too early for Reyna, who was taken off in the 69th minute along with Sancho.

Erling Haaland (6.5/10)

We could have been talking about a Haaland hat trick, but for some reason his aim was off-target today. His hold-up play was excellent and perhaps even world class, but his finishing was not quite at the levels you expect them to be. He never gave the Bayern defence an easy ride though, and got his just reward in the end with his goal which came after a nice run, a couple of fantastic touches to round Neuer before finding the back of the net.

He will feel he should have done better in front of goal, especially with his high standards and the form we all know he is in for club and country.
