Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich meet on Saturday in the first Bundesliga Der Klassiker of the season in a top of the table clash.

Although it is still early in the season there are three massive points up for grabs along with a mental edge on Saturday as Borussia Dortmund face Bayern Munich. Both are level on points with 15 through six games, although Bayern have a slightly better goal difference. Dortmund will be at a slight disadvantage as far as being the home team goes as they will be playing without any fans in the stadium, robbing them on their biggest natural advantage in this tie.

There have been a couple fitness scares over the past couple weeks for Borussia Dortmund but the positive news is that both Mats Hummels and Emre Can have rejoined team training and look to have a reasonable chance in playing on Saturday. Missing Can would be tough but missing Hummels would handicap Dortmund significantly.

Hummels has been playing at a world class level so far this season and quite frankly the majority of the time since rejoining Dortmund. The Black and Yellows’ defensive record has been exceptional so far this season, only conceding two goals, with both of them coming in one game. Without Hummels that trend isn’t likely to continue, especially against a team like Bayern.

Bayern Munich have been their usual exceptional selves of late, winning their last nine competitive games in all competitions. One of those wins came against Dortmund in the Supercup, a very tight 3-2 game.
