Gio Reyna to sign new long term contract with Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund have a long term extension in place with Gio Reyna, with the official announcement set to come in due course.

Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Gio Reyna turns 18 on Friday, and he will have plenty of reasons to celebrate. Reyna is set to make his senior debut for the United States national team on Thursday, and he is also set for a new long term contract extension with Borussia Dortmund, which will keep him at the club until at least 2024.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Reyna will sign a new long term deal with the Black and Yellows, and it is only a matter of time before the news of the extension will be made official. For Borussia Dortmund, the signing of Reyna has been an ‘absolute success story,’ and the newspaper adds that the club even want a five year contract for the highly rated player.

Gio Reyna, who arrived at Borussia Dortmund in July 2019, signed an initial three year contract with the club in November 2018. But following his rapid development and rise to the first-team, he is set for a new contract and a pay-rise, which will reflect his increased playing time for Lucien Favre’s side.

The youngster has appeared in all 12 of Borussia Dortmund’s games in all competitions so far this season, and has two goals and five assists to his name.

Ruhr Nachrichten also report that it is possible Dortmund could make the announcement of the extension on Reyna’s 18th birthday, or they could wait until he is back from international duty. But there is no doubt that it will happen.
