Borussia Dortmund U23s’ game against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen has been postponed after a player tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

Borussia Dortmund U23s have already had to reschedule three of their games due to COVID-19 (against Lippstadt, Fortuna Düsseldorf II and Borussia Mönchengladbach II). Now a fourth game has been postponed after a Borussia Dortmund II player tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday. The Black and Yellows were due to play twelfth placed side RW Oberhausen on Saturday, but the game has now been cancelled and will have to be rescheduled.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, head coach Enrico Maaßen took training as per usual on Friday morning. But after a positive test was returned by a Borussia Dortmund player, the game was called off by the authorities. The newspaper adds that all the other players tested negative, so they can continue to train. The player who tested positive is already in quarantine.

Borussia Dortmund II are next scheduled to take on SV Lippstadt on Tuesday, where they will be aiming to continue their stunning start to the season. But whether that game can take place will depend on the results of Monday’s COVID-19 tests. COVID-19 testing have recently become mandatory as part of the Regionalliga regulations.

Borussia Dortmund II are currently second in the Regionalliga West standings, two points behind Rot-Weiss Essen, who have played two games more. Enrico Maaßen’s side have won eight and drawn two of their ten matches so far, and are aiming to fight for promotion to the third division of German football.
