4. Ibrahim Tanko – 17 years 2 months

Highly rated forward Ibrahim Tanko became the youngest player to play for Borussia Dortmund when he made his debut in the 5-0 win over VFB Stuttgart in September 1994. He made his full debut four months later, and marked it with a goal against Bayer Uerdingen.

Tanko went on to make 18 appearances in his debut season, and helped Borussia Dortmund win the Bundesliga title. Unfortunately, injuries and a loss of form followed, and he was reduced to a bit-part role during the Black and Yellows’ Champions League title winning run in 1997.

Tanko was then suspended and eventually released by Borussia Dortmund after testing positive for cannabis. He then joined Freiburg, where he made 109 appearances before retiring from professional football at the age of 30.

Tanko is currently the head coach of the Ghana U-23s team.
