Gio Reyna signs new five year Borussia Dortmund contract

Gio Reyna has signed a five year contract extension which will keep him at Borussia Dortmund until 2025.
It has been widely reported in recent weeks that Gio Reyna will be signing a long term contract with Borussia Dortmund. Now the news has been made official, with the Black and Yellows announcing a new five year deal for the 18 year old. Reyna said that he is delighted to have extended his contract, and is looking forward to enjoying a long term stay with Borussia Dortmund.
"“Borussia Dortmund is a great club that competes for titles and is involved in all major competitions,” Reyna said. “I have already learned a lot in Dortmund and I want to learn a lot more in the future. I am looking forward to being at BVB for the long term”"
Michael Zorc said he is absolutely convinced that Gio Reyna will be an important player for Borussia Dortmund for years to come.
"“Gio has made almost unbelievable progress in recent months,” Zorc said. “He will definitely be an important part of Borussia Dortmund’s sporting future. I am personally very pleased that he has decided with full conviction to extend his contract with BVB for such a long term.”"
Gio Reyna joined Borussia Dortmund from NYCFC in 2019 and has enjoyed a rapid rise through the ranks. He only made his debut in January this year, but is now a regular starter for Der BVB. The attacking midfielder has featured in all 12 of his side’s games so far this season, scoring two goals and providing five assists. His form led to him earning his maiden call-up to the United States national team earlier this month, and he scored his first senior international goal in just his second appearance for his country.
His contract was due to expire at the end of the season, but a deal has long been in place to extend it following his 18th birthday.

Reyna’s contract extension just further demonstrates how highly he is rated by those in charge at Borussia Dortmund. It has been a special year so far for ‘The American Dream,’ and he will only get better from here.
