Hertha Berlin vs Borussia Dortmund: The key battles that could decide the game
By Stuart Gent
Matteo Guendouzi vs Mahmoud Dahoud/Jude Bellingham
Matteo Guendouzi has featured in just two games since joining Hertha, with his first start coming just before the international break. He boasts a passing completion rate of 90.3%, having completed 65/72 passes while also winning nine of his 14 duels.
There is no doubt that the Arsenal loanee will look to make himself a nuisance trying to break up the play between Witsel, Bellingham/Dahoud and the Dortmund front four, while also making sure he keeps the ball moving forward for his team.
It will be interesting to see who Lucien Favre chooses to partner Axel Witsel in midfield against Hertha Berlin. The likelihood is that one of Mahmoud Dahoud and Jude Bellingham will come into the team to provide some help to the front four going forward.
This is going to be one very interesting battle in the middle of the park, as Bellingham, Dahoud and Guendouzi hold nothing back and aren’t afraid of being getting stuck in. And whoever comes out on top of this battle for central midfield dominance will give his side’s chances of winning a major boost.
