Thomas Meunier (5.5/10)

Meunier was often too slow, too inaccurate and too indecisive in the final third and also made a couple of very sloppy mistakes in the Dortmund third, which could have been a lot more costly on another day. He did put in the hard yards though, running a team-high 12.4 kilometres and also set up Borussia Dortmund’s fourth goal with his low cross.

Axel Witsel (6.5/10)

Witsel will be a bit disappointed not to have closed down on Cunha before Hertha’s first goal. But he looked a lot more secure in possession and completed all but two of his passes, providing some stability and structure to the team. He also came close to scoring, but just couldn’t get on the end of Marco Reus’ free-kick in the first half.

Mahmoud Dahoud (6.5/10)

Dahoud played some gorgeous forward passes, and will feel unlucky that none of them ended with the ball in the back of the net. He did have a few unnecessary ball losses, struggled in the duels and was a bit slow in reacting to Lukebakio before the opener. But he showed glimpses of how good he can be when given the freedom to play his natural game.

Raphael Guerreiro (7/10)

Guerreiro had a nightmare first half which was pretty much summed up by his foul throw early in the game. He had a golden chance to equalise on the stroke of half time but decided to pass the ball to Haaland, who didn’t expect it and failed to control it in time.

But his second half performance was much better, as he took the right positions and improved his decision making. And he got his reward by scoring Dortmund’s fourth goal of the night, and his first of the season.
