Youssoufa Moukoko is set to be a part of the Borussia Dortmund squad for their Champions League group stage clash against Club Brugge on Tuesday.
Just days after becoming the youngest player to ever play in the Bundesliga, Youssoufa Moukoko could be set to break the UEFA Champions League record as well. According to BILD, the 16 year old will be in the Borussia Dortmund squad for their Champions League group stage game against Club Brugge.
The tabloid claims that the decision to name Moukoko in the squad was made by head coach Lucien Favre just hours before kick-off at the Westfalenstadion. Borussia Dortmund registered Moukoko in the B-list of their Champions League squad on Monday, making him eligible to play in the competition.
If he features against Club Brugge, Moukoko will become the youngest ever debutant in the UEFA Champions League. The record is currently held by Celestine Babayaro, who made his debut in the competition for Anderlecht at the age of 16 years and 87 days in 1994.
Moukoko, who has scored 141 goals in 88 appearances for the Borussia Dortmund youth teams over the last four years, has been training with the first team since August. After his debut against Hertha Berlin at the weekend, Erling Haaland said that Moukoko is the biggest talent in the world at the moment.
Borussia Dortmund can take a big step towards qualification for the Champions League round of 16 with a win against Club Brugge on Tuesday. The Black and Yellows are currently top of Group F, with six points from their opening three matches.
