Borussia Dortmund on the verge of round of 16 qualification

Borussia Dortmund have responded really well since their loss to Lazio on the opening day. While they would have been expected to win all these games, the dominance shown in the wins has been really promising to see, especially in the two games against Club Brugge.

Both games against Brugge ended as comfortable 3-0 wins, and while they left it late against Zenit Saint Petersburg, there was never a doubt about who the better side was. They have not conceded in Europe since the trip to Rome. The Black and Yellows have been professional and solid on both ends of the pitch, outscoring their opponents 8-0.

If Lucian Favre’s side can win the rematch against Lazio next time out, they will secure a spot in the knockout round as group winners. Failing to qualify was never a real worry, but after last season’s down to the wire group stage finish, if Borussia Dortmund can take care of business early this time, it will allow them to rest key players for the final game in Russia.
