Defence: Thomas Meunier, Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels, Felix Passlack

It will be interesting to see if Lucien Favre goes with a back three or a back four on Saturday. The back three worked to great effect against Hertha Berlin, but Borussia Dortmund returned to a back four formation against Club Brugge and put in a dominant performance.

Köln aren’t likely to see much of the ball, so a back four with two attacking full-backs should work just fine against them. Thomas Meunier could do with a rest, but it is more likely that he will get one for the Champions League game next week.

Manuel Akanji and Mats Hummels will have to wait until Dan-Axel Zagadou is ready to feature to get their rest.

Raphael Guerreiro is a doubt going into this game, and there is no need to risk him against a team that is currently second bottom in the Bundesliga table. Felix Passlack is good enough to get the job done. Nico Schulz could also be in line for his first start of the season.
