Thomas Meunier (3/10)

Meunier was caught napping for the first Köln goal. His lack of quality going forward left Borussia Dortmund handicapped time and time again. His crossing was poor and he was too laboured in possession. He also struggled against the lively Ismail Jakobs, and the majority of Köln’s attacks came through his flank.

He then had to go off after suffering a muscle injury in the second half, which is no surprise given that he’s started every game this season.

Mats Hummels (5/10)

Hummels thought he had equalised for Borussia Dortmund in the first half, but his headed goal was ruled out for offside. He played some fine forward passes, but was caught ball watching for Köln’s second goal. He was more involved in the attacking play in the final ten minutes, and had a shot well saved by Timo Horn late on.

Manuel Akanji (6/10)

Akanji had a couple of shaky moments, but was largely solid and made a number of vital interceptions for his side. He was also very active in possession, and led the team with the most number of touches and passes.

Felix Passlack (4/10)

Passlack returned to the starting XI in place of the injured Raphael Guerreiro. But he endured an afternoon of struggle against former teammate Marius Wolf, who did not afford him any space or time down the left flank. He made way for Gio Reyna in the second half.
