Borussia Dortmund 1-2 FC Köln: BVB player ratings from deserved defeat
By Tushar Bahl
Jadon Sancho (4.5/10)
Sancho hit the bar early on, but that was as good as it got for him. He tried his best to create some openings, but was always met by a Köln defender or two. His impact on the game was limited and he played as a wing-back after Felix Passlack was subbed off.
Marco Reus (6.5/10)
The only player in Borussia Dortmund’s starting front four who can say that he had actually a good game. Marco Reus was the only Borussia Dortmund player looking to make things happen against Köln, especially in the first half. He created a host of big chances for his teammates, and should have ended the game with a minimum of two assists.
Julian Brandt (3.5/10)
After impressing in the second half against Hertha Berlin, Brandt put in a woeful shift against Köln. It was a half hearted performance from the German international who wasn’t able to make even the slightest impact on the game. His decision making was poor and the game passed him by. Brandt also lost the headers on the near post for both of Köln’s goals.
Erling Haaland (4/10)
Haaland was hardly involved in the game up until the 95th minute when he missed a golden chance to score from close range. He also had a decent opportunity in the first half, but failed to hit the target. He was also partially responsible for Köln’s goals, as he didn’t react quickly enough to stop Wolf from winning the first header.
