The DFL is set to release the TV revenue split for the 36 Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga teams for the 2021/2022 season.

Borussia Dortmund are set to be one of the top earners for the new TV deal that starts in 2021/22 and the DFL is set to announce the final breakdown of the revenue per team. On December 7th, there will be a virtual general meeting to outline the new financial breakdown for each German team. The new contract will run until the summer of 2025 and will provide an average of 1.1 Billion euros a year to the collective teams.

The revenue is weighted according to the standing of the Bundesliga clubs, and that is determined through four pillars. Two five year models, factoring in the positioning in the table over the previous seasons and competitiveness. Then a 20 year model based on the club’s sporting sustainability and finally a small amount based on their youth systems. The heaviest determinant is the performance metrics making up 93% of the revenue.

As a result of these factors, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are set to receive the most from the new revenue.

According to German magazine Kicker, Bayern Munich will be getting 105.4 Million Euros, while Borussia Dortmund will receive 95.95 Million euros. Because of RB Leipzig’s recent rise to prominence, they are a bit lower on the ranking when 5 years are taken into consideration so Bayer Leverkusen will actually come in third, receiving 88.07 million euros.
