Expected Borussia Dortmund lineup vs Lazio: Morey or Passlack to replace Meunier?
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund go up against Lazio in the Champions League on Wednesday, and Lucien Favre faces a number of tough selection decisions ahead of the game.
Following their shock defeat to FC Köln at the weekend, Borussia Dortmund will be aiming to bounce back against Lazio in the Champions League. A win would seal top spot in Group F, and ensure that Lucien Favre can rest key players for next week’s trip to Russia. But overcoming Lazio won’t be easy for the Black and Yellows, especially if they play like they did in the matchday one defeat to the Italian side.
Lucien Favre confirmed during his press conference ahead of the game that Thomas Meunier will not be available after suffering a muscle injury at the weekend. Raphael Guerreiro (thigh) and Emre Can (foot) are also doubts going into the game. The former trained with the team on Tuesday, while the latter did not, which means that he will miss out. Reinier Jesus and Marcel Schmelzer remain out, while the game also comes too soon for Dan-Axel Zagadou.
Here is the team Lucien Favre could go with against Lazio on Wednesday.
Goalkeeper: Roman Bürki
Bürki did not have the best of games against Köln and will be hoping for a much quieter evening against Lazio. The Swiss shot stopper has yet to concede in three Champions League appearances this season, and will no doubt be looking to make it four.
