Michael Zorc: Borussia Dortmund will not look to end Reinier’s loan spell early

Borussia Dortmund will not consider ending Reinier Jesus’ loan move early, and Michael Zorc hopes that the Real Madrid loanee will be patient when it comes to his playing time.
Highly rated Reiner Jesus joined Borussia Dortmund on a two year loan deal from Real Madrid in the summer. But the Brazilian forward has been limited to just seven appearances this season. All of his appearances have come off the bench, and he has only been on the pitch for a total of 105 minutes so far. His progress was further delayed last month, after he tested positive for COVID-19.
Reports in Spain claimed last month that Reinier and his parent club Real Madrid are unhappy with the playing time the 18 year old is getting at the moment. And they could look to cut short the loan spell if the situation doesn’t improve by January. But Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has said that Borussia Dortmund are not considering ending Reinier’s loan spell early.
"“Basically we are not considering cutting short the loan with Reinier,” Zorc said. “He has been pushed back after his corona infection, but we have the patience with him. I hope he has it too. That is why we do a two year loan in such cases.”"
Reinier has to compete with the likes of Erling Haaland, Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus, Gio Reyna, Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard for a starting spot. But the injury to Haaland could result in some game time for him once he recovers from COVID-19.
During the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Eintracht Frankfurt, Lucien Favre also said that he was impressed with the way 16 year old Youssoufa Moukoko has adjusted to senior football. “He responded well to the challenge and showed his talent straight away,” Favre said.
Moukoko has made two first team appearances already, and is in line to feature once again this weekend against Eintracht Frankfurt.
