Player Ratings: Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Borussia Dortmund
Emre Can (5/10)
Emre Can was the other player at fault for the Frankfurt goal. Both Zagadou and Hummels moved up in unison to push Kamada offside. Unfortunately Can wasn’t paying full attention and played Kamada onside. Hinteregger took advantage of that and played Kamada through on goal. Had Can been in line with the other defenders, this goal would simply not have happened. His usual passing and ability to progress the ball forward was also lacking against Frankfurt as he made his return from injury.
Mats Hummels (6.5/10)
It was really lucky for Borussia Dortmund that Hummels was able to make it back in time for the game after picking up a knock in the Champions League. With Manuel Akanji ruled out, Dortmund would have been left very short without Hummels. Hummels was solid as usual in defence, the one thing that was missing from his game today was his line breaking passes, which seemed to be lacking accuracy.
Dan-Axel Zagadou (6/10)
Dan-Axel Zagadou made his return to the starting XI, playing his first minutes of the season. The Frenchman is a massively important part of the Dortmund squad and provides another sorely needed option in defence. You could see Zagadou was a bit rusty in the passing game, misplacing several passes. It’s hard to be too tough knowing these were his first minutes of the season, he will be back to his best with a little more match rhythm. He still managed to make some vital recoveries and looked solid defensively for the most part.
