Marco Reus (6/10)

Reus made a slow start to the game but nearly scored the equaliser on the stroke of half time with a peach of a finish. But the post ended up denying him his first Champions League goal in two years. He then provided a really good first-time pass for Hummels before Piszczek’s equaliser. The Borussia Dortmund captain also helped out defensively on a couple of Zenit counter-attacks.

Julian Brandt (4.5/10)

It was an evening to forget for Julian Brandt, who failed to make an impact once again. Playing in a more deeper role, Brandt was wasteful in possession and never looked like causing Zenit any problems. He was replaced by Gio Reyna at the hour mark.

Thorgan Hazard (6/10)

Hazard started the night as the number nine and ended it at right-back before going off with an injury. He worked hard, got into dangerous positions and came close to scoring the equaliser right after Zenit’s opener.
